Riverside Arts Center, Summer, 2007, Newsletter Paula Doe is new Gallery Coordinator A native of Nebraska, Doe earned a BFA with emphasis in painting, drawing, and art history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her MA from U Nebraska is in museum studies with a minor in art history. She recently moved to Michigan with her husband, Steven Ramold, who joined the faculty of Eastern Michigan University as assistant professor of history in 2005. Doe currently serves as a gallery assistant at Ann Arbor’s Barclay Gallery. Previous experiences include acting as docent program coordinator for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and tour guide at the Museum of the Confederacy (both at Richmond, VA). She has served as exhibition services coordinator and museum registrar for the Nebraska State Historical Society Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, and worked as education coordinator for the University Place Art Center, also in Lincoln. Her publications include “Robert Rauschenberg” in The Fifties in America, by Salem Press, Pasadena, CA, and “Exhibit Mounts on a Budget,” a technical leaflet for History News magazine (November/December 1993). Doe is a member of the Michigan Museums Association and the American Association of Museums. Her conference presentations include “Custom Clothing Mounts for the Display of Historical Objects,” at the American Association for State and Local History Annual Meeting; and “Mounting Interest: Exhibiting Artifacts in Safe, Secure Ways,” for the Tri-State Museum Conference, Sioux City, IA. RAC’s search committee included Larry Newhouse, Tom Venner, Carolyn McKeever, Maureen Harding, and Barry Larue, and they were pleased to have a highly talented group of applicants for the gallery position. The committee is pleased to have chosen a coordinator with such excellent credentials. Interim gallery coordinators Dee Overly and Bill Knudstrup leave Paula Doe with an exciting line-up of exhibitions for the spring season and she is sure to continue one of the community’s newest traditions: creative presentation of high quality art and artists.
