Oktoberfest fundraiser with RFD Boys brought in nearly $10,000 for lights and sound

Some said The RFD Boys had not changed since their picture was taken in 1972 (left),
but when Bill Kinley stood in for a former band member on 7 October (right),
discerning fans said they could see some subtle differences

Arts Center supporters gathered at the Corner Brewery in October to hear The RFD Boys and contributed nearly $10,000 for improved lights and sound in the theatre.

Thanks go to the many individuals, businesses, and corporate sponsors who continue to stand behind the arts in Ypsilanti:

Fundraising for the arts:
“I’ve often wish’d that I had clear,
For life, six hundred pounds a year;
A handsome house to lodge a friend,
A river at my garden’s end,
A terrace walk, and half a rood
Of land set out to plant a wood.”
- Satires, Epistles and Odes of Horace, Alexander Pope [1688-1744]

Well, Alexander Pope, we had the wood––when Gabriel Godfroy had his trading post on this site. We have the river at our garden’s end. Now all we need is the “six hundred pounds a year” (or more in today’s market) to keep up the lodge for the artists, garden, and terrace walk.

Loyal supporters of the arts in Ypsilanti continue to make it possible for the Riverside Arts Center to continue offering excellent performances and exhibitions to our community.
