"It Grows on Trees--II"
Creative woodwork made from ash trees and other local or salvaged timber

Emerald Ash Borers threaten 700 million ash trees in Michigan. Millions of trees have already been destroyed. The disposal costs to landowners and local communities reach into the millions of dollars. Hundreds of tons of wood are land-filled, chipped, or burned.

“It Grows On Trees” is an exhibit of creative woodworking, including sculpture, turning, and furniture, which seeks to raise the level and recognition of woodworking as an art form in Michigan.

The jurors have announced the results of the “It Grows On Trees–II” woodworking competition of 2008:
Carol Kent of Jackson MI was awarded First Prize for her work, Dryad, of wind and water. 
John Kiley of Dexter MI
was awarded Second Prize for his work, High Water Mark. 
James VanderWoude of Kentwood MI
was awarded Third Prize for his work, Mountain Dulcimer.
Mark Davis of Brooklyn MI was awarded Honorable Mention for his work, pair of Corkscrew Cocktail Tables,
