the Art Explorers! After-School Art classes – Ages 8 – 12

Spring Semester

 

In this weekly class, we will explore different kinds of art: drawing imaginatively and from life, weaving, painting on canvas, and more! The art will be inspired by your child’s imagination, ordinary things, and the world around us. Your young artist will make colorful and vibrant drawings, collages, paintings, and more! 

This 6-week session meets on Tuesdays from 4:45-5:45 pm (a new time to better accommodate after-school schedules!), April 15th – May 20th. For youth ages 8-12.

Art can get messy, so wear older clothes or cover up with a smock or an old T-shirt!

Spring Semester Lesson Guide

  • Week 1 (4/15): Ocean Environment: Drawing (color pencils) and watercolor painting
  • Week 2 (4/22): Weaving or Fiber Collage (The collage option is for those who decide they dislike or do not have the patience for weaving)
  • Week 3 (4/29): Sci-fi Space Exploration: Drawing (oil pastels, color pencils) and moving parts
  • Week 4 (5/6): Mixed Media Color Wheel: Mixed media collage.
  • Week 5 (5/13): Drawing from Observation: Still lifes and/or self-portraits
  • Week 6 (5/20): Painting on Canvas – Flowers from life or a painting inspired by a famous artwork

This curriculum may be adjusted to better meet the interests of the students.
