Art Explorers! After-School Art classes

Spring Semester

In this weekly class, we will explore different kinds of art. The art we make will be inspired by your child’s own imagination, ordinary things, and the world around us. Your young artist will make colorful and vibrant drawings, collages, paintings, and more! 

This 6-week session will occur on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm, March 4th – April 15th (No class on March 25th). For youth, ages 8-10 (or Grades 3rd-5th). 

Art can get messy, so wear older clothes or cover up with a smock or an old T-shirt!

Spring Semester Lesson Guide

• Week 1 (3/4): Ocean Scene – drawing (color pencils) and watercolor painting
• Week 2 (3/11): Weaving and/or Fiber Collage (the collage option is for those who decide they dislike or do not have the patience for weaving)
• Week 3 (3/18): Space Scene – drawing (oil pastels, color pencils) and moving parts
• No meeting on 3/25 for spring break at YCS schools.
• Week 4 (4/1): Color Wheel or Color Gradient – mixed media
• Week 5 (4/8): Observational Drawing – still lifes and/or self-portraits
• Week 6 (4/15): Painting – TBD: flowers from life or a painting inspired by a famous artwork
